Sunday is a day of reflection for me every week. I try to go over the last week and think about what went well and what didn't go so well. If something didn't go so well, I try to think about what I can do differently for the next week. This past week was a pretty special and important week in my life. I stepped out into my own truth and went in to my workplace completely bald for the first time EVER and guess what? The world didn't stop spinning on its axis. Hardly anyone stopped and stared and life goes on. I shared that experience in my May 13 blog post and you can read it here. By Embracing the thing that makes me different I am now able to live a truly authentic life and to truly feel good about myself and dare I say it --- Beautiful.
I have also gained almost 100 new followers on Instagram (and counting) since sharing my story of living with Alopecia and starting this Blog. Shaving my head and finally just being my true self has been one of the most important experiences of my adult life. It has renewed by faith in humanity frankly. I have experieinced such an outpouring of encouragement and support from friends, family and complete strangers. Through this blog I intend to pay it forward. I want this blog to be a safe place for women like me to check out style and fashion tips but I will also share how I am living joyfully with Alopecia and share how other women are doing it as well in hopes to encourage someone/anyone who needs it.
This Blog is about much more than Fashion and Style. I started it because I belive that Bald IS Beautiful and that we need a re-definition of Beauty. A definition that includes women who are bald whether by choice or by circumstance. Every Wednesday on Instagram I will feature a WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday) who will be a woman I think epitomizes living Baldielicious (Bald, Brave, Badass and Beautiful). Please support these women by following them on Instagram and leaving kind comments and words of encouragement.
Later this summer I will begin profiling other women who are also living Baldielicious in their own lives. There are many, many more of us than you may think. Women who are movers, shakers, influencers and just plain ole regular folk like me but they are living life fearlessly on their own terms. That is what Being Baldielicious is all about!
If you know someone you think should be my WCW on Instagram or someone you think should be profiled on this page, please shoot me a note through the comment page and tell me all about her and how to reach her. She may be featured on this blog!
If you have Alopecia remember you are still a whole and complete person. I have Alopecia but it doesn't have me and it doesn't have you either. I am still me a whole and complete woman. I am no longer willing to live my life worrying about what others think about how I look. I will not live my life hiding who I truly am and neither should you. Wigs are wonderful but you must be able to walk down the street without one and still feel beautiful. If you cannot then I encourage you to honestly examine the reasons why and deal with them. I did and it's the greatest gift I've ever given myself. So my thought for you this Sunday is EMBRACE YOUR BEAUTY. Embrace your whole self. It is what makes you special and beautiful. Being different is only ok it is necessary. It is also where your true beauty lies. Happy Sunday!
